No playlist this time, but let me tell you about a cool new band from San Francisco called Weekend. Their sound is hard to define. Just when you think they sound like one band, they immediately start sounding like something else familiar, something you can’t quite put your finger on. Oddly, their myspace page claims they are punk/shoegaze/psychadelic. I’m not sure how these three genres can combine in any kind of harmonious way, but that’s the story. I definitely get the shoegaze. I’m just struggling a little bit with the punk part. Then again, I haven’t heard much from this band, so I should hold my tongue until I listen to more of their stuff. Still, I’ll give them punk over Avril Lavigne any day. If you get a chance, check out their new tune “Comma Summer.”
And now to the chocolate. Remember last time when I posted about this amazing chocolate? Well, I tried something else by this same company. I was once again blown away. The chocolate pretzel rods were amazing, but the chocolate cranberry almond myrtles were irresistible. I ate too many. Now I can reveal the name of the company. It’s Long Grove, and products can be found at Pharmaca in Boulder. The thing is that Pharmaca only carries Long Grove products during the holidays, so you might want to hurry and pick up something.
